Current highlights in the life of our Church
An Invitation from Helen Reed
As part of my Diaconal
Training, I am going to Tiquisio, Columbia, South America.
I will be traveling as part of a Christian Peacemaker Team
delegation. Christian Peacemakers Teams (CPT) send
delegations into crisis settings around the world.
Delegations link communities experiencing violence with
concerned individuals, churches and groups.
In Tiquisio, we will meet
with organizations and learn about the struggles of
building and maintaining community in the midst of armed
conflict. For more information on Christian
Peacemakers Teams you can check out their website
www.cpt.org .
I would like to invite
members of Camrose United Church to support me in this
adventure. I am hosting a spaghetti supper on June
7th at 5:30 p.m. I would like to tell you what I
anticipate I'll be doing.
Pick up a free ticket at the
church office after May 3 (we'll have a limited number of
seats available). I would appreciate any monetary donations
that you are able to give to help me with the cost of this
trip and I'll tell you all about it when I get back.

The Photo Directories Have
Arrived
If you were a participant
and included in the photo directory, your free directory is
available for pick-up from your church mail box.
Thank you for your support of this project.

AMONG
FRIENDS
THE GIFT OF HOSPITALITY
If you like to travel, and enjoy meeting new friends,
perhaps you should be part of the AMONG FRIENDS
network.
WHAT IS AMONG FRIENDS?
AMONG FRIENDS is a
hospitality/travel directory rooted in United Church homes
across Canada. Host families listed in the directory
welcome other U.C. people who are travelling in their area,
providing overnight accommodation for as little as $10 per
person per night - $15 if breakfast is served.
ORDER YOUR COPY NOW
The fourth edition of AMONG FRIENDS is currently
being prepared. It will be available in print form for
$20, and accessible online (by means of a username and
password) for $15. It will be current for three years.
If you use the directory even once, you will save more than
the price of it on your accommodation. To order your
copy, make your cheque payable to Allan Grose, and mail it to
the address below.
BECOME AN AMONG FRIENDS
HOST
There is no charge for listing your home as a host
destination. All you need is at least one spare bedroom
or space in your yard for an RV or tent, plus a gift for
hospitality. To request a Registration Form, contact the
coordinators:

AMONG FRIENDS
is a non-profit venture, offered as a service to the
national church. Its principal purpose is neither to
enable travellers to save money, nor to provide hosts with an
opportunity to make money. Rather, its purpose is to
build a network of friendship and solidarity among the diverse
people of the United Church all across Canada. We invite
you to share in the grace of giving and receiving hospitality.
