Vision
This page describes our ongoing process of visioning for our
church.
The Visioning Process
By "visioning" we mean reflecting on what has been happening and
discussing possibilities and plans for future development. It needs to be an
ongoing process because the life of our church is evolving in many ways. As we
grow in size, the culture of the congregation has to change. The needs
of each generation is different from that of the previous generation, so we are
continually endeavoring to meet the needs of three or four generations at a
time. The world around us is changing rapidly so our response to the world and
our own community needs to be continually revis(ion)ed.
Vision 2001
In 2001, we completed a four-part visioning process focused on
the four major areas of our ministry: Pastoral Care, Christian Development,
Outreach and Worship. Click on these links to read the reports:
Vision 2002
The next stage in the Visioning Process took place on Saturday,
Mar 9, 2002, in the form of a Visioning workshop -- Vision 2002 -- for
Board members and other congregational leaders. Click on this link to read the
report:
The first action taken by the Board in response to Vision
2002 was to strike an ad hoc committee to develop some recommendations for
the restructuring of the Board.
Vision 2003
On Sunday, 03 Oct 26, our Special Congregational Meeting
was held to consider the Board Restructuring Proposal.
The Proposal was adopted with one amendment, that the new
model would be reviewed during the third year and that the
Congregation would then decide whether to continue with the
new model.
Concerns were raised around the number of members on the
new Church Council (5 elected and 2 ministers) and around
procedures for financial management, although no amendments
were proposed.
The actual change-over to the new structure took place
at the Annual Congregational Meeting, 2004 Feb 29.
Vision 2004
The first Visioning workshop presented by the new Church
Council was held on 2004 Nov 27.
