Youth at Church!

Our Program

This program is for Youth, grade 7 to 12. We meet each Sunday for discussion about current issues, planning for worship or other happening events and Skittles. We have provided worship leadership, attended youth rallies, had our own retreat and we have some great social times as well.

Schedule of Activities

Youth Minister

Helen Reed is our Youth Minister and to find out how to contact her, click HERE .

She'll be working on a program for next year too, so if there's a project you think we should consider share that too.

What have we done?

Some of the activities we've participated in.... YAC! are busy people!

November 17, 2002. YAC! presented the service on Sunday morning. The theme was 'Generations walking and working together in hope' YAC! members came through again with a service that was very meaningful for members of our congregation.

In October 25, 26, 27, 2002. A group of youth from Westview United Church in Yorkton, Saskatchewan came to join us for the weekend. With YAC! & Yorkton, we had 22 youth who spent the weekend playing, visiting, & exploring rainbows. We attended the Hallowe'en dance at Riverbend United Church together, bowled, swam, shopped had games with Canada World Youth & had an AWESOME time.

On August 23 & 24, 2002 a dedicated band of YAC! members redecorated the YAC! room (formerly known as the library) During those two LONG days, we emptied the room, repainted it, & put it all back together again. IT'S AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Year end celebration! 2002

On June 21-22, we camped out on the front lawn of the church, went Neon Bowling & Mini-golfing. Pot luck supper and Pancakes for breakfast - great food too! An impromptu collection of YAC! musicians put together a musical number which was played during the offering at church on Sunday morning, June 23. Well done musicians.... Let Darryl or Helen know when you're ready to play again.

Youth at Conference

Jaimy Kamphorst, Ben Allan, Casey Reed & Warren Reed represented us at Youth at Conference in Vermillion, May 22-26,2002. They had a great time and learnt a lot about how our Church is run.

Wake-a-thon

Our March 23, 2002 wake-a-thon raised $1,360 for Bissell Centre and Afghanistan Relief. This was accomplished by 31 participants assisted by parents and volunteers: Mary Ann Pastuck, John & Marian Girvan, Frea Van der Dussen, Melanie Kuntz, Karen Lyseng, Jack Kamphorst, Donna Barnes, Dawn Bailey, Colleen Nelson, Doris Hirsch, Fran Eliott, Doreen Walline.

Earth day clean up

On April 21st,2002, we cleaned up around the Church & across the road at the Bargain store. We found that most of the garbage we picked up could have been recycled -- and that the worst places for garbage seemed to be BESIDE the garbage cans!!

Camping Sunday

On Camping Sunday (April 28th, 2002 )YAC! helped the congregation to camp out in Church. We sang camp songs, had a campfire chat (complete with marshmallows and chocolate) and just had a wonderful time recognizing the significance and impact camps have on Church life.

Covenanting

May 5 , 2002 - We covenanted with Helen as our New Youth Leader. Thank you to all the YAC! members who came for breakfast & joined in the symbol-giving. Then we had a good discussion about Gambling and how it is relevant to Youth.
